Salvete! I don’t know if you have realized it or not yet, but there is no new material for the remainder of the year, only review!!! Your assignment is to complete the first 3 workbook pages of Lesson XXXIII. For the next three weeks you will be taking parts of your FINAL EXAM. Shurley English 6 for April 17th
This week we tackle Chapter 27. Use References 77-79 to learn your way around a library. This is unfortunate timing since we can’t go to a library, but I will try to find an online video that can be helpful and send you the link.. I’ll also be sending your Vocabulary #1 worksheet later today. There is a Test B this week, but I do not require it. For composition this week, I would like you, with your parents’ permission, to send a friendly letter to two people- maybe a grandparent, elderly church member, Sunday school teacher, pastor, shut-in member, first responder, or friend. When you are finished have a…

First Form Latin, Year 2 for April 10th
This week we are starting Lesson XXXII. Work on memorizing the Second Conjugation – Perfect System Chart. I will post a video on the Excelsior Facebook page on Tuesday. To conjugate verbs in the Perfect System you need to start with the perfect stem which is based on the 3rd Principal Part. It’s very important from here on out that every time you memorize a new verb, you memorize it by its 4 Principal Parts. For example: the verb “love” = amo, amare, amavi, amatus. This lesson has six verbs that have irregular principal parts and must be memorized individually. Friday’s quiz will be on the chart. For extra credit,…

Shurley English 6 for March 27th
Good morning! Chapter 24 focuses on the business letter. As you work your way through Lessons 1-4, pay attention to References 71-73. Not the subtle differences between friendly letters and the more formal business letters. I sent your vocabulary worksheet via email for Vocabulary List #1. Your practice sentences focus on pattern 5, which have predicate adjectives. Remember: a linking verb will NEVER be followed by indirect/direct objects. After linking verbs you will be looking for predicate adjectives/nouns. Also, it is helpful to go ahead and mark all the prepositional phrases because the PrA’s and PrN’s will never be in prepositional phrases. Don’t forget the practice sections for Chapter 24 in your…
