Please finish Chapter 17 this week, except for Lesson 5, the writing assignment. Chapter 17 deals with quotation rules, so study well References 48-51. For composition, type or rewrite your “Ant and the Chrysalis” story to turn in on Friday. Don’t forget to underline your Figures of Description (FODs) and label them at the end of the sentence in which they are written. For example: A cool breeze tickled the ant’s back as he searched for food. (Anemographia) The last thing to do on this lesson is to go over reduction (page 12, #2). The following week’s quiz will be on the vocabulary and sayings. on page 69. Go ahead and do worksheet 1 and 3 of Lesson XXVII this week. Shurley English 6 for January 17th
Hello! We are NOW on Chapter 15. Please complete Lessons 1-4. For vocabulary list #1, I gave you a sheet with all the information but the sentence. Study it, and make up a sentence using the vocabulary word. Do not do Lesson 5. Classical Composition: We started Lesson 1, The Ant and the Chrysalis in class. Before doing the Three Plot Points on page 10, review the terms; recognition, reversal, and suffering. Next, do #2 under Variations: Part 1, page 11. Do Variations: Part 2 on page 13. First Form Latin, Year 2 for January 17th
This week finish Lesson XXVI workbook pages and review the lesson for the quiz. You will be quizzed on the chart (exactly like the last quiz) and you will need to be able to put the vocabulary in any form asked, such as: faith (gen/pl) = fiderum. Also, your bonus will come from the answers to workbook page 138, section IV. I’ll give you the English to one of the translations, and you will give me the Latin. Happy studying!

Happy New Year! I want to start by telling you how overwhelmed and grateful I am at the outpouring of love that you showed to me on the last Friday before break. Thank you for all the wonderful goodies! I so enjoyed hearing you sing Adeste Fideles in both Latin and English. Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed your break; I know I did! Let me start by saying how thankful I am to have such industrious, courteous students, and thank you for all the Christmas goodies. Shurley English 6 for December 13th
Last school week before Christmas!!! Finish Chapter 14, Lessons 2-5. Make sure you are prepared for a quiz on the list of subordinate conjunctions from Reference 43. There are 18 subordinate conjunctions listed, you need to be able to name 15 from memory to make a 100. This week’s writing assignment is the last one we will do in the Shurley English 6 book, at least for a while. You only need to write one essay. Please do the assignment for Writing Assignment Box #1, WA #18 on page 259 of the Teacher’s Manual.

First Form Latin, Year 2 for December 13th
One last week!!! This week, prepare for a vocabulary review quiz on Lessons XXI -XXV. This covers all 3rd and 4th declension nouns you have had. There will be no charts, just straight vocabulary. I will give you the English, and you will give me the Latin in COMPLETE dictionary form. The bonus will be all the Latin sayings from Lessons XXI-XXV. They are worth 1 point a piece for a total of 5 bonus points. They must be perfect (spelling and word order) to receive credit. Have a great last week of the 2019 school year!!!

Welcome back from Thanksgiving! This week finish Chapter 13, Lessons 2-4. There is no writing assignment this week. Use the extra time to polish up on your synonym/antonym pairs. Parents: When we start back to school in January, we will be switching from Shurley English 6 Composition to Classical Composition. If your student doesn’t already have Memoria Press’ Classical Composition I, Fable Stage, this would be an excellent time to order it. Thank you!
