Welcome to October! Finish Visual Latin (VL) Lesson 17. Read (translate)  Lingua Latina (LL) Chapter 1, pages 7-11 (through line 106). Quiz for Friday.  Know all vocabulary from Lingua Latina.  Be prepared to answer any question from the grammar sheets I passed out (the sections on nouns and adjectives only).

We completed Chapter 6, Lesson 1 in class Friday.  Please complete Lessons 2-5 at home.  This includes Vocabulary, Set 2 in Lesson 2, the Practice Sentences in Lesson 3, the Test in Lesson 4, and the Three-point paragraph on “My Three Favorite Animals” in Lesson 5. Have a great week!

Review and study Interrogative and Relative Pronoun Charts.  Then take your quiz with a parent as a proctor.  Please have them sign the test. Complete VL Lesson 16 on Accusative Prepositions.  You must know what both the ablative and accusative prepositions mean and which case their object of the preposition take (ablative or accusative.)  Remember SID P SPACE prepositions take the ablative case, the others take the accusative.  Special note:  the preposition “in” can take either depending on usage (position = ablative, movement = accusative.) In class last Friday we reviewed Visual Latin (VL) Lesson 13 and studied lessons 14 & 15.  You were quizzed on material through lesson 12.  If you took your quiz home to complete it, please make sure a parent signs it. A couple of you are not looking at this website, or completing the entire weekly assignments.  I can’t stress enough that in order to succeed in a language class, you MUST keep up with the work.  Constant review is key. We finished Lesson 1 and studied Lesson 5 of Chapter 5  on the 15th.  Please complete at home Lessons 2-4 (including Test 5) and write a three-point paragraph in the first person on your three favorite foods.  When you have written that paragraph, rewrite it from a third person point of view.  So when you are finished, you will have two paragraphs, but the only difference will be the point of view. We successfully covered Chapter 4, lesson 1 in class.  We also started on our paragraphs in lesson 5. So, for this week, please complete lessons 2 and 3.  Take the test in lesson 4. And, complete your paragraph in lesson 5. Both my students are doing a great job.  Don’t forget that any completed Daily Grams count for extra credit on tests!

Finish Visual Latin (VL) lessons 11-13. You will have a quiz Friday that covers lessons 1-13.  Please, for your own sakes, review, review, review grammar concepts and vocabulary that we have covered.  If you are having to look up a word that is not in the vocabulary box for that lesson, then you don’t know the vocabulary well enough. Macrae was all by himself on Friday, and I’m sure he’ll be glad to see Nate back! We completed chapter 3, lesson 1, and we reviewed how to write a three-point paragraph (lesson 5). For this week, please complete lessons 2-4 and write the three-point paragraph in lesson 5. Don’t forget that each Daily Gram completed (up to 6 per week) earns you an extra point on the weekly test. We had an interesting class this Friday with one student in class and one student participating via FaceTime!  It went well, though, and we hope to have Macrae back with us next Friday. We were able to complete chapter 1, lesson 3 in class.  It covered the first half of the vocabulary (4 terms) and how to do our vocabulary.  Vocabulary words are listed on pages 7-8 of the workbook and the reference box for how to do the vocabulary is on page 9.  Students will need to have a binder or notebook in which to write their vocabulary, essays, and other assignments.
