    Shurley English 6 for October 20th

    Finish Chapter 8 the way you usually finish your work. For your writing assignment this week, I let you keep your writing assignment from last week.  I would like you to improve the three “I like this because . . .” sentences.  By improve, we talked about adding interesting adjectives, informative adverbs, and substituting exciting verbs. Welcome to the 2nd quarter of our school year!

    Lingua Latina Advanced for October 20th

    Finish Visual Latin Lesson 18. Read Lingua Latina Chapter 1 slowly in Latin trying to understand as you go without actually translating word for word.  Reading aloud is very helpful. Finish LL Ch 1 Pensa A, B, & C Quiz for Friday:  Grammar from the Chapter 1 handout I gave you, sections adjectives to the end.  Also, Chapter 1 vocabulary again :-).  I will give you the Latin, and you will give me the English.

    Welcome to October! We finished Chapter 7, Lesson 1 in class and wrote outlines for our paragraphs in Lesson 5. For Friday, please complete Lessons 2-5, including List #2 of the vocabulary, Ch. 7 test, and the essay on “My Three Favorite Carnival Rides.”

    We completed Chapter 6, Lesson 1 in class Friday.  Please complete Lessons 2-5 at home.  This includes Vocabulary, Set 2 in Lesson 2, the Practice Sentences in Lesson 3, the Test in Lesson 4, and the Three-point paragraph on “My Three Favorite Animals” in Lesson 5. Have a great week!

    Lingua Latina Advanced for September 29th

    Review and study Interrogative and Relative Pronoun Charts.  Then take your quiz with a parent as a proctor.  Please have them sign the test. Complete VL Lesson 16 on Accusative Prepositions.  You must know what both the ablative and accusative prepositions mean and which case their object of the preposition take (ablative or accusative.)  Remember SID P SPACE prepositions take the ablative case, the others take the accusative.  Special note:  the preposition “in” can take either depending on usage (position = ablative, movement = accusative.)     Lingua Latina Advanced for September 22nd

    In class last Friday we reviewed Visual Latin (VL) Lesson 13 and studied lessons 14 & 15.  You were quizzed on material through lesson 12.  If you took your quiz home to complete it, please make sure a parent signs it. A couple of you are not looking at this website, or completing the entire weekly assignments.  I can’t stress enough that in order to succeed in a language class, you MUST keep up with the work.  Constant review is key.     Shurley English 6 for September 22nd

    We finished Lesson 1 and studied Lesson 5 of Chapter 5  on the 15th.  Please complete at home Lessons 2-4 (including Test 5) and write a three-point paragraph in the first person on your three favorite foods.  When you have written that paragraph, rewrite it from a third person point of view.  So when you are finished, you will have two paragraphs, but the only difference will be the point of view.     Shurley English 6 for September 15th

    We successfully covered Chapter 4, lesson 1 in class.  We also started on our paragraphs in lesson 5. So, for this week, please complete lessons 2 and 3.  Take the test in lesson 4. And, complete your paragraph in lesson 5. Both my students are doing a great job.  Don’t forget that any completed Daily Grams count for extra credit on tests!
