March 27          Rhetorica, Bk. IV, pp. 253-269. Read and outline the teachings on Style.

April 3               Rhetorica, Bk. IV, pp. 269-289. Read and outline the teachings on the three qualities of Style.

April 10           Rhetorica, Bk. IV, pp. 289-301. Read and outline or provide definitions for the various figures of speech.

April 17              Rhetorica, Bk. IV, pp. 301-315. Continue outlining figures of speech. Extra credit: prepare your own examples of four figures of speech, using the definitions provided.

April 24             Rhetorica, Bk. IV, pp. 315-330. Continue outlining figures of speech. Prepare your own examples of four figures of speech.

May 1                 Prepare a 3-5 minute speech either defending or prosecuting Brutus for the murder of Julius Caesar. Memorize your speech. (Background materials will be provided ahead of time.)

May 8                Summary review.

May 15              Final Exam.
